beauty standards become a lot more sinister once you realize that many of them work to physically disable women. long nails make it hard to do daily tasks, let alone fight off an assailant, high heels make daily walking painful and running away from danger near impossible, being non muscular and weak makes fighting off an assailant less likely, long hair is vulnerable in a physical assault, the list could go on without even considering things like how black women using chemical relaxers to accommodate euro beauty standards has put so many of us at risk for illness or how skin whiteners have put people (mostly women) in the global south at similar risk. live beautiful die young i guess
My mere existence as a woman who does not shave forces the women around me to consider why they do. And I know this because I don't have to say anything to women for them to justify why they shave to me.
My mom? Never questioned her on why she shaves. She's questioned why I don't shave, thought it was a political thing. "What are you trying to accomplish with that?" "I'm not trying to do anything. I just don't shave because I don't want to."
Now when she mentions shaving, she makes sure to tell me she does it for herself. And we all know the truth in that is weak, but that means she has to think about it. Around me it can't just be a given. Can't just be "oh, of course I shave" because I don't. I am an example that a woman doesn't have to shave.

men wont kill the sadistic rapists and murderers for three reasons:
a) men are scared of these men, too scared to act against them
b) if all the sadistic evil rapists and murderers were actually killed off, women wouldn't be so scared of telling men to fuck off, and the regular men would no longer benefit from women accommodating them and being grateful that at least they are not the rapist men
c) men dont care about women and children besides the ones they feel are theirs, i.e the ones they think of as their own (property) so their own mothers, sisters, girlfreind, daughters etc. some men will act on occasion to defend their own (female property), but not other men's

@suzanne3841 @deadlysunlight i knew a man in prison (and much family) and they have told me stories about men in prisons getting angry and knowing that if they best a child molester/sex offender to death, then they could say he started talking about kids whereas they would not have that excuse with whomever they were angry.
I dont believe that men in prisons are overwhelmingly beating and killing rapists to protect women. In fact the man i was talking to said that other than those instances, everyone was cool with the sex offenders(as long as they werent gay)
I believe that these men who kill sex offenders in prison are looking for an easy and acceptable target for their violence (unless the man is gay then theyre ~protecting themselves~ homophobic)

I think you are right. Men make a show of insisting that they would and will beat/kill pedophiles but in reality it occurs rarely, and as you pointed out the motivation for it is not s desire for justice but because they have found an acceptable target for their violence. I've also noticed that this kind of violence gets a lot of praise and positive attention from other men and women and the media, so getting that reputation and attention could also be another motivation. Notice that the men who do this always make sure to tell someone about it, they boast about it. It's never a quiet act of genuine justice. The other thing is they only seem to do this in prison, where they've already been locked up. They only seem to do it when there is no chance of being punished further. The other thing is that men in prison rape each other too, and yet the supposedly good men in prison don't kill those rapists. Either they don't care, or they fear retribution. This also doesn't track with the many many child rapists that are released from prison for "good behavior" or on parole, if men in prison really were killing pedos en masse then why are so many of them alive and well enough to be set free? I'm glad we have an account of men in prison admitting they were "cool with sex offendors", it really looks like most men are doesn't it?

I think most importantly, it would give us the leverage to say “no”. To walk away from bad jobs and abusive managers. To refuse to work in unsafe environments. To demand better pay.
To demand better, because the options are no longer “suck it up” or “die”.

After all this, it is infuriating to see the way Westphalen is recollected historically. She is cheifly referred to as his wife. In her wikipedia section she is first documented as a theatre critic, as opposed to an author, radical, and integral leader of the communist movement. His section is not written with respect to her in any comparable manner.
Westphalen is almost always referred to with her first name while karl is referred to with his last name. This has clear implications about respect and authority. Furthermore, her own identity was usurped by his as he had her and her children all adopt his own last name, ironically a notable marker of property rights and class oppression.
karl marx was not for liberation. And among the larger scheme of things, was not a radical. He personally and politically enforced the subjugation of women. Half the planet. The majority of the poor. The majority of the workers (yes. domestic labor is work). If this is what can be found with a few google searches and looking at sources like marxists.org and wikipedia (where 90% of writers are white and 90% are male), then I can only imagine how much I would detest him if I knew the man truly.
I firmly believe it is against feminist principles to rally under his name (“marxist”) and dismiss Westphalen. Consider challenging others on this. Know the name Jenny von Westphalen. Give her the credit she deserves and say the truth about her husband.
You know what was the craziest thing I learned from being married to a teacher? Not that the kids are watching porn and sexually harassing teachers and other students, though that's definitely bad. It's the fact that children cannot read anymore. And it's not like, some of them. 90% of her FIFTH GRADERS cannot read. She writes shit on the board but they can't fucking read it.
